Purchasing Manager 

P&H Casters is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their team in Arlington, Tx 76001

About the role:

Plan, direct, or coordinate the activities of buyers, purchasing officers, and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, and services.

What you'll do:

  • Analysis of purchasing needs by coordinating with marketing and customer service to ensure adequate inventory of materials and products in accord with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. 
  • Plan and forecast for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels
  • Planning, developing, and managing a purchasing system for multiple distribution centers
  • Experience in negotiating annual direct ocean contracts and freight forwarding services  
  • Responsible for administration of purchasing procedure and policies
  • Work with Warehouse/Production Manager and Inventory Control Supervisor to maintain inventory levels 
  • Manage and coordinate distribution of materials for production with domestic and foreign raw material venders 
  • Evaluate vendors and vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers with regard to domestic orders
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Directly supervises 2 employees in the Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Providing a work environment that engenders goal setting, positive energy, creativity and teamwork, developing team building activities and morale boosters.

Our ideal candidate:
Education and experience

  • 5 plus years of end-to-end Supply Chain experience 
  • In-depth knowledge of importing and customs duties process  
  • 3 years of experience coordinating multi-level international sub-contract manufacturing between multiple suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Epicor ERP preferred 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Effective verbal, written, flexibility, decision-making, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
