About the role

Area Director

About us:

Team Red, White & Blue’s mission is to enrich veterans’ lives. Every year, more than 250,000 active duty service members transition out of the military, joining the 3.5 million post-9/11 veterans already living in communities nationwide. Veterans in our country face a variety of challenges from isolation or lack of purpose to unhealthy weight gain or struggles with mental wellbeing. Our vision is to forge America’s leading veteran health and wellness community to meet these challenges and include the quality of life for our veterans and the communities in which they live.

Summary:

If our mission aligns with the kind of change you would like to see in our country, consider joining our Operations Team as an Area Director. You will be part of an 8-person team entrusted with leading and mentoring between four and eight volunteer State Coordinators, who in turn support hundreds of Volunteer Leaders in chapters and as individuals in communities across the United States. You will be expected to operate with a great deal of autonomy, using our organization ethos, support from your peer team, and guidance from the Director of Operations in your decision-making processes. Supporting and motivating volunteer leaders will be your top internal priority while you think and operate strategically in your geographic area to identify and execute on external strategic opportunities for advancement of our mission.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership:

  • Select, develop, and motivate four to eight direct-report volunteer State Coordinators, each with a focus on building and expanding in-person and virtual engagement at the state level.

  • Provide timely, consistent, and effective guidance to State Coordinators and Volunteer Leaders, using our monthly engaged member key performance indicator to measure and direct initiatives across multiple states.

  • Assist State Coordinators with developing market-specific approaches to increase both membership and engagement; measure, pivot and improve as necessary.

  • Step in to make and own responsibility for difficult decisions on behalf of our Volunteer Leaders, considering individual personalities, community dynamics, and the Team RWB ethos.

  • Coach State Coordinators using data-derived insights and peer-supported feedback to further develop existing chapters and provide engagement opportunities to members outside of chapter boundaries.

  • Provide inspirational leadership and set the example for our over 200,000 members by regularly participating in both in-person and virtual Team RWB activities.

Program Leadership:

  • Prepare and submit two annual budgets (State Coordinators and Chapters), total in excess of $50k, manage effectively within this budget, and report proactively and accurately on progress and challenges encountered.

  • Drawing insights from data collection and analysis, understand how to measure impact and where/what to improve.

  • Using our Salesforce platform, track, collect and report out on key performance metrics, adjusting operations to meet organizational goals and support State Coordinator performance.

  • Ensure effective execution of national and state-wide events in your assigned states, employing appropriate marketing and recruiting methods for maximum participation.

  • Leverage social media to engage members, amplify marketing efforts, and spread the Eagle Ethos.

  • Ensure all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission, values and ethos of Team RWB.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Represent the Operations Team at cross-functional planning meetings and provide programmatic input for selected planning processes with another team leads.

  • Identify and disseminate best practices within the Operations Team and propose and champion improvements to internal systems and policies.

Partner Management (External Customers):

  • Create new and cultivate existing relationships with state and regional-level funders and partners.

  • Publicly represent Team RWB with external constituency groups including community, government, and private organizations, as directed by our Marketing & Communications team.
