Warehouse Operator

An ADP Client is currently seeking an experienced Warehouse Operator to join our team in Baytown, Texas (77523).

Job Summary:
Responsible for daily operations of forklift and yard mule, and performing warehouse work, including loading/unloading of trailers/containers, as well as having the ability to understand and assist with inventory transactions and assist with other operational items in the warehouse.  We are looking for an individual who is a team player, good work ethic and attitude.  

Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management.
  • Drives propane/electric /diesel forklift or yard mule to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products and materials
  • Pulls orders from storage areas and compare them with order forms/specification sheet and ensures the exact number and types of products is loaded.
  • Verifies load accuracy; checks the load count, stability, and product damage, reports variances and damage as necessary.
  • Keeps appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy
  • Selects appropriate packing materials/equipment and packs cargo in accordance with appropriate procedures
  • Utilizes supplies efficiently with no undue waste
  • Ensures that each van/container is sealed and verified with appropriate information
  • Loads/Unloads cargo to/from trucks/containers using proper equipment
  • Receives product deliveries, inspect and ensure proper storage
  • Arranges items in an organized manner to avoid damage or premature wear and tear
  • Creates or assists with inventory count as needed
  • Complies with all OSHA safety regulations and company policies and safety programs.
  • Performs daily checks on inspection of equipment to determine need for repairs and guarantees safety by performing regular maintenance. 
  • Double checks that all security requirements are followed
  • Optimizes space and maintains the warehouse, equipment and materials, and other workspaces in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. 
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience is required.
  • High school or GED is required.
  • Proven experience as forklift operator, with valid certification to operate forklifts.
  • Inventory Transactions experience is a plus.
  • Prior warehouse experience, including stacking cargo on pallets or into bundles and performing general warehouse housekeeping.
  • Prior experience driving a yard mule or the willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read, speak and comprehend English, count accurately, perform basic math equations and write legibly.
  • Ability to follow detailed order instructions
  • Ability to follow all safety and standard operating protocols and policies.
  • Team player with a good attitude.
  • Ability to shift priorities easily. 
  • Ability to work overtimes as necessary
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with warehouse equipment
  • Excellent physical condition and coordination
  • Capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. 
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to use proper lifting technique to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
