Direct Service Professional (DSP) - Residential Technician

We are currently seeking Experienced DSP's/Residential Technicians to join our Team!

Who we are:
We are a not-for-profit service provider agency for intellectually and developmentally disabled (I/DD) adults.  P.I.L.O.T. has ten (10) residential programs, three (3) day programs, and a community living program in South Jersey located within the counties of Camden, Gloucester, and Burlington.

About the role:
The DSP - Residential Technician is responsible for providing support services to group homes with residents who present challenging behaviors and/or require extensive direct care support with daily living skills.  

What you'll do:
  • Participate in the development of ISP goals and objectives as assigned by the Residential Manager;
  • Conduct daily house and vehicle checks both inside and outside upon arrival;
  • Communicate information concerning resident progress and problems to Residential Manager;
  • Assist with all lifting and transfers of residents as directed;
  • Upon approval, will participate in alleviating dire staffing shortages when they exist by being flexible and providing coverage at any alternate program site;
  • Be responsible for the care for non-ambulatory and medically complex residents, i.e., assist if needed with total care of individuals in daily living skills, bathing, feeding, toileting, lift and transfer, etc.;
  • Monitor and assist if needed in the upkeep and care of durable medical equipment, C-PAP devices, adaptive equipment;
  • Assist in use of adaptive devises;
  • Assist in supervising new staff reporting on shift in the use of all equipment needed by non-ambulatory and medically challenged residents;
  • Conduct daily medication inventory and assist in administration of medication;
  • Assist in bowel care/bladder care at the resident's authorization and direction;
  • Assist with weighing residents on designated day;
  • Supervise and assist in meal preparation and clean up;
  • Assist individuals to eat/feed themselves, as necessary;
  • Have prescriptions refilled and picked up on schedule; transport residents to programs and other community-based designations;
  • Implement housekeeping responsibilities as per chore chart, i.e., cleaning and organization of the home;
  • Assist with shopping;
  • Assist in secretarial duties;
  • Implement and monitor ISP skill training;
  • Cooperate with the Agency and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection or investigation;
  • Attend nine (9) staff meetings per year;
  • Attend all training as scheduled;
  • Remain on duty to ensure care of residents until relieved by replacement staff;
  • Supervise and assist in medical visits; and
  • Complete any program assignments and activities as delegated by the Residential Manager.
Requirements:
  • Minimum age requirement of twenty-one (21) years
  • One (1) year of direct care experience required
  • Valid driver’s license with three (3) years driving experience and a positive driving history
  • High school diploma/transcript or GED.
