Manager of Procurement – Glass Manufacturing

An ADP client is currently recruiting for an experienced individual to be our next Manager of Procurement to join our team in our Emporia, VA 23847 location.

This is not a Remote role and requires reporting to an office environment every day.

Our expertise covers all areas of glass processing for defense & security and transportation sectors as well as special applications for other industries - architectural, solar etc. Revolutionary transparent armor technologies, advanced LCD glass systems (ScreeneX), solar systems and many others has been developed by OSG team to answer customer needs.

About the Role:

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Manager of Procurement is responsible for the entire Procurement function, with strong emphasis on building relationships with suppliers and execution of sourcing initiatives. With depth of strategic sourcing experience, the role will be adept at employing best practices-based methodologies and provide thought leadership throughout the organization.

This position will work closely with production and warehouse to monitor material usage and stock levels.  This position ensures that all materials are purchased and delivered in a timely basis in accordance with agreed terms and conditions. 

Find new suppliers, leverage supply base to maximize value to OSG. Lead the development of a team in support of contract Procurement practices to achieve a top tier company. Be a part of leadership team to work on regional Supply Chain excellence and to develop and execute strategies to deliver company vision. Drive ownership and accountability for cost, contract excellence, service, asset efficiency and quality throughout contract network. Develop and monitor the use of appropriate KPI’s to measure and improve the effectiveness of the key elements of contracts.  New product development and operational procurement will round out the base of responsibilities.

What you’ll do:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. 

Primary area of Focus:

• Ensures product arrives on time and within cost targets.
• Ensures contracts are accounted for in our cost structures.
• Ensure Bill of Materials are accurate and accounted for.
• Manages inventory level to maximize cash efficiency.
• Establishes partnerships with our top suppliers, finding ways to reduce cost and improve performance.
• Strategic sourcing and alternate supplier qualification.

Purchasing:

• Establishes supplier relationships to leverage mutual partnerships in driving value in costs savings, terms, quality, and service.
• Manages and Control Inventory levels of all areas for OSG.
• Drives strategic sourcing of raw materials and year over year costs savings on price negotiation and alternate supplier identification.
• Develops and executes purchasing, inventory and receiving policies that support manufacturing and sales.
• Maintains contact with all commodity and packaging vendors for trends and pricing and keeps management informed.
• Negotiates purchases/contracts for commodities and packaging materials as necessary.
• Monitors all commodity and packaging material purchases to ensure compliance with negotiated terms, specifications, and costs.
• Drives supplier compliance to regulated industry requirements such as supporting audits and other validation activities necessary to ensure compliant execution of procurement.
• Helps monitor parts obsolescence.
• Works Closely with contracts to ensure correct costing for correct pricing.
• Other duties may be assigned by management.

Our Perfect Candidate

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Certified Lean Management a plus.
• 2-5+ years of experience in progressive Procurement environments in both strategic and tactical roles.
• Purchasing/Procurement duties in a manufacturing or related environment: 1-3 years (Required).
• Supply Chain Buyers: 1-3 years (Required).
• Business Analysis a plus.
• Experienced with Federal Contractor (Preferred).
• Thought leader in Procurement, with the ability to effectively transfer knowledge; able to manage annual expenditure more than $30 million, across a broad range of categories, technologies, and suppliers.
• Impact player, who can garner results with minimal supervision; results oriented; self-starter with relentless desire to achieve individual and organizational objectives.
• Analytical and independent thinker with a focus on initiative and common-sense solutions to problems.
• A proven track record in the Strategic Sourcing and cost savings initiatives, leading to meaningful cost of goods reductions, without risk of jeopardizing finished goods.
• Computer skills and experience in ERP/MRP systems.
• Required education and experience or skillsets required for the role.
• USA Citizen, US Permeant Resident or Green Card are (REQUIRED), since we are a US Government Contractor.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
