About the role

Area Production Superintendent

We are currently seeking a 2nd shift ready-to-eat (RTE) Area Production Superintendent to join our team in our Portland, TN 37148 location.  We are a BRC Certified company that develops & produces fully cooked pork, beef & poultry products for all segments of the food industry; domestic and international.  

About the Role:
This position is responsible for managing our RTE production & pack-off departments.  The supervisors and team leaders in the departments will report to this individual.  This position will be responsible for employee safety and production results while maintaining the highest food safety and quality practices in the industry.

What You’ll Do:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned 
Hiring, training, mentoring and motivating employees
Setting quality, food safety & production goals each day
Managing the production schedules for the RTE area departments and communicate with Production scheduling if there are any changes or issues
Directing employees to meet production goals in a safe and effective manner
Ensuring all production lines have met Pre-Op sanitation requirements daily
Communicating with the sanitation team to ensure startup times are met and corrective actions are taken if necessary
Setting continuous improvement goals, managing objectives and reporting to management with the results
Communicating all maintenance needs for each department to the plant manager
Fostering communication between maintenance techs and supervisors to manage downtime
Developing a relationship with FSQA team to ensure our products meet their stringent standards

Our Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience: 
5+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity required
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of food safety programs BRC or SQF
Knowledge and understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, food safety rules and regulations
Working knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations pertaining to plant operations and labeling
History of professionalism in managing teams 
Excellent communication and organizational skills – proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines
Provide clear, concise written reports on progress of projects
Work some weekends if necessary
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Detail oriented
Self-motivated, ambitious, a good teacher and mentor
Occasionally lift 40 lbs. and be able to work safely in a warehouse or processing plant environment
Perform and work in a 0 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit temperature-controlled manufacturing facility
Work in a fast-paced, high stress environment
