Jr. Compliance Specialist/Consultant

BTG is currently seeking a Jr. Compliance Specialist/Consultant to join our team in Hampton Roads (Virginia) Area.

About the role:
BTG has an immediate need for a full-time Junior Compliance Specialist/Consultant to respond to regulatory inquiries. This is an entry-level position located in our Norfolk/Hampton Virginia area with excellent growth potential for highly motivated and exceptional performers. The ideal candidate will have some regulatory compliance experience working for a management consulting company.

Duties:
  • Engage in frequent written and verbal communication with management and business partners to accomplish goals. 
  • Identify regulatory compliance/risks/concerns and make suggestions and/or take corrective actions to implement solutions to improve controls/operations. 
  • Must be analytical and capable of succeeding in a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Must have excellent judgment to plan and accomplish goals, working under extremely limited supervision of a manager 
  • Excellent individual problem-solving and analytical skills are used to review customers and complex transactions. 
  • Must adhere to all legal requirements set forth by the agencies. 
  • Assist with monitoring and evaluating construction projects for EEO, DBE, and OJT compliance. 
  • As needed attend contract pre-construction conferences to share information specific to DBE goals and reporting. 
  • Assist with monitoring/evaluating federal and state compliance on projects, perform project reviews, evaluate, and act upon documentation required for construction contract compliance, and maintain appropriate files. 
  • Assist with monitoring DBE goal achievement and assist with addressing DBE goal shortfalls. 
  • Ensures that all DBE related documents are accurate and up to date and attend compliance reviews and furnish the complete project files for review. 
  • Assists with DBE related documentation and correspondence as requested including, but not limited to, performing labor interviews, and CUF (Commercially Useful Function) investigations. Assist with monitoring contractor’s activities to evaluate Good Faith Efforts on an ongoing basis. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. 

Our ideal candidate:
  • Minimum high school diploma, Associates degree preferred or Bachelors degree 
  • 2+ years of audit experience in regulatory or compliance environment, a regulatory agency, risk management or other internal control functions (Department of Transportation, Compliance, et al) within a complex international organization. 
  • Experience in Compliance Support or Account Management. 
  • Clear and articulate speaking voice. 
  • Written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate findings into action items and to communicate findings to stakeholders. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment.
