About the Role:
The Mechanical Engineer will be taking part in the robotic and automation design process as part of a tight knit development team. This role will be designing and selecting parts for the instrument as well as designing test fixtures for development, providing continuous feedback on the development process and accepting feedback. The Mechanical Engineer will be working with a cross-disciplinary team and will be exposed to supporting electrical and software tasks. As we ramp up production, the role will be expected to fully support production and client services as part of the concept to production process. What you’ll do:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
• Designing precision motion stages and components, electromechanical system parts and assemblies in CAD environment
• Generating drawings for parts and assemblies
• Documentation as per FDA and Company SOP requirements
• Modeling and simulation of design components, such as dynamic system modeling, kinematic modeling, structural, and thermal analysis
• Design for Manufacturing and performing Engineering Change Notices to improve manufacturability and quality
• Building precision assemblies, wire harnesses and program automated functionalities
• Finding and managing vendors for prototyping and production
• Creating test fixtures, including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming
• Support production for method sheet creation, tooling, and process qualification
Our Perfect Candidate
Education and Experience:
• BSc. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent area
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and design for manufacturing
• Exposure to software such as Python, MATLAB, C++, HTML
• Design experience in precision automation
• Competency in designing large electromechanical system components
• Proven design record
Other Experiences and Knowledge:
• Involvement in automation related extracurricular activities, such as, First Robotics
• Additive manufacturing, such as 3D printing
• Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet-metal and other manufacturing methods.
Required Abilities and Skills:
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Flexibility to work in a changing and fast paced environment
• Drive, determination and ability to hit aggressive milestones/deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
