An ADP client is currently recruiting for an experienced individual to be our next Medical Assistant to join our team in our Jacksonville, FL  32256 location.

About the Role:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

The Medical Assistant also known as the Appointment Secretary will have access to medical and computer records within their division to complete the tasks assigned to their role. They should not look at computer or medical records for patients they are not providing services for or using to complete their specific job functions. Computer security functions are assigned to job classification.

What you’ll do:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. 

  • Set up exam room
  • Record vitals and patient complaints
  • Prepare patient and assist with exam as needed
  • Triage patients
  • Clean and restock rooms as assigned
  • Sterilize all instruments
  • Draw blood and perform necessary tests or send to labs with completed lab requisition as needed
  • Instruct patients regarding test preparation
  • Sets up procedure room including the sterile tray including:
  • May perform time out
  • May assist with procedure
  • Clean and sterilize equipment
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly disposed
  • May order supplies as requested
  • May be requested to assist in maintaining surgical book and log which would include patient ID, time of arrival, name of physician who provided medical clearance, surgeon’s name, diagnosis, CPT code, patients ASA classification, type of procedure, the level of surgery, the anesthesia provider, the type of anesthesia used, duration of the procedure, the type of post-op care, duration of recovery and any adverse incidents
  • Order and receive supplies
  • File, as requested
  • Assist in phone back up or scheduling as required
  • Assure confidentiality of patient and office information
  • Understand how to operate and maintain equipment
  • Other duties may be assigned by management

Our Perfect Candidate

Education and Experience:

  • High school education, degree preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant desired – Specialty working in a Fertility Center a big plus
  • Accurate typing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful
  • BLS Certified
  • Atrial Fibrillation Certification a plus
  • Maintain current CPR Certification a plus
  • Venipuncture skills
  • Must be able to follow instructions accurately
  • Demonstrates a professional manner, “team player" with good people skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm and courteous manner and pleasant attitude as one deal with multiple tasks and people
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Ability to exercise flexibility and adaptability in work habits and to effectively work well with others
  • Strong customer service and organization skills are a MUST
  • Proficient in EMR needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, walk, and sit. Must use hands with fine motor skills, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

  • Office hours are 7am thru 4pm on Monday thru Friday – Might have an occasional weekend workday (half-day) – Previous notification will be provided
