Chef Assistant (Sous Chef) (Part Time)

Agostino Foods is currently seeking a Chef Assistant (Sous Chef) to join their team in Levittown, PA, (19054.)

We can supply and deliver to any food service company or direct box business with catalogue sales for meats, value added, dry aged steaks, organic, and natural products. Private label options are also available. We also provide fresh custom cut portion control options for steaks, specialty burgers and ground products, to food service providers.

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Commercialized Sous vide batch cooking line
  • Prepare samples and present items to new and existing customers
  • Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner.
  • Travel locally with sales team to assist with product demonstrations 
  • Assistance with R&D and product development.
  • Assist with new menu options based on customer demand.
  • Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs.
  • Monitor and record inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies for R&D
  • Proper record keeping with new recipes using Microsoft Teams and company software
  • Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in perfect operating order.
  • Assume the role as Head Chef in his or her absence.
  • Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation in conjunction with the specifications.
  • Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotation, and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met.
  • Ensure to keep the kitchen always clean including dishwashing.

Our ideal candidate:
Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods (in particular Sous Vide), kitchen equipment, and best practices.
  • The ability to work within a team is imperative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, production and services employees 
  • Ability to bend, stand, and stoop for long periods of time
  • Must have experience calculating figures and amounts and performing mathematical functions to meet business needs.
  • Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams
Work setting:

  • 20 hrs. weekly
  • 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) 
  • Hours will need to be flexible, however, daytime shift, 8-3pm is an approximate time frame.
