The Job
The Director of Charitable Partnerships, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Strategic Partnerships, drives fundraising strategy, planning and execution to support Music Forward’s growth. The Director will build up and expand existing fundraising relationships and initiatives across individual, corporate, and foundation giving channels, as well as special events. The Director oversees the Charitable Partnerships team and contractors, and reports to the Executive Director. 

Position preferably based in Los Angeles. 

Details
  • Develop and execute annual fundraising plan. Align goals and benchmarks to annual budget, define strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders including staff and Board, oversee campaign development and execution, and internal procedures. 
  • Secure financial support from individuals. Expand recurring and annual giving programs, including major gifts. Cultivate and steward donors and develop a large, sustained base of individual contributors. 
  • Leverage online fundraising platforms and donor management database. Refine reporting to inform strategies and internal communications. Oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing, including for fiscal receivers. 
  • Cultivate foundation relationships and oversee grant submissions and reporting. 
  • Secure corporate gifts through implementation of giving programs and cultivation of stakeholders. Oversee implementation of sponsor benefits. 
  • Create cultivation opportunities and events. Drive cultivation event ideation and strategy and oversee implementation. 
  • Be a leader and active member of the team. Take initiative and collaborate across staff in support of Music Forward programming, marketing, and operations. Research, brainstorm, recommend, and participate in required staff calls and meetings. Additional duties as assigned.

What you bring
  • Seven+ years in fundraising or related fields with experience in leadership or management roles. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire a variety of audiences and articulate the importance of Music Forward’s work in a compelling manner. 
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and compliance requirements. 
  • Familiarity with live entertainment industry.
  • Experience in developing and managing an individual giving program. 
  • Experience in event management, ranging in scale 
  • Familiarity with fundraising and/or CRM database, Salesforce experience preferred.
  • High level of comfort working across a diverse staff and constituent base, and conscientious of reaching out with an inclusive voice
  • Sound judgment and a commitment to high professional ethical standards 
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience in managing and developing teams. 
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends to represent Music Forward at events and to support programs and special events as needed. Possess a car or has regular access to reliable transportation.
  • College degree or equivalent experience.
