About the role

Accounting Specialist (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist (Hybrid) to join our team in our Minneapolis, MN 55401 location. 

About the Role:
The Accounting Specialist will compile financial data to inform and facilitate strong decision-making.  This requires understanding of records’ purposes, timeliness and accuracy in data entry, processing of data, report preparation and filing.  The role supports the operations of the agency to equip all staff with what they need to accomplish their duties efficiently and effectively.

What You’ll Do:
Accounts Receivable
Generate monthly billing worksheets and process invoices, ensuring that billing follows agency processes
Deposit A/R payments and record in accounting system
Send statements/reminders for past due invoices
Accounts Payable
Code and enter vendor invoices into accounting system
File unpaid invoices
Process check runs
File payments in vendor files
Answer vendor inquiries about invoice/payment status
Monitor open purchase orders, request invoices when needed and close PO’s when appropriate
Process semi-monthly payroll via ADP
Process 401k deposit
Post journal entry to account for payroll transactions
Prepare reports/calculations for annual sales incentives
Other Accounting functions
Maintain cash balance
Reconcile checking & savings accounts monthly
Daily cash available report
Month-end journal entries
Financial statement preparation/support
Project Management Functions
Close projects when instructed to do so, ensuring that all billing, charges, open items are completed before the project is closed
Run Project P&Ls for account teams
Create competitive estimates for new business
Collaborate to create new types of estimates for existing clients
Office Support
Client contracts

Our Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience: 
Associates or bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of relevant experience

Required Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of GAAP accounting principles
Advanced with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and ADP software 
Proficiency with creating and analyzing reports
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
Outstanding math and research skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Deadline-driven with excellent time management ability
