Utility Operator

We are seeking a Utility Operator to join our team in Pooler, GA.

Who we are:
Headquartered in Savannah, GA, we began operations in 2002, at the advent of the sweetener replacement trend.  Today, we are a leader in custom sweetener formulation, blending and pre-blending of sweeteners and other dry ingredients and in portion packing, with customers in Beverages, Dairy, Bakery and a number of other food applications.

About the role:
Responsible for sealing bags, packing cases, sealing cases, and hand stacking them on a pallet. This position will also include having labels made for the bags, cases any other item needed to complete the finished case. This position will also include going through the rework in a timely manner to ensure all is used up prior to ending the run. With this position there will be movement at times to different location depending on work load and needs. Completing appropriate documentation to support inventory accuracy and batch traceability on the product being produced. Ensuring equipment is properly sanitized; compiling reports of progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems. Responsible for ensuring product quality by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and all Standard Operating Procedures. Responsible for food safety

What you’ll do:
  • Operate machines tied to line for sealing. (Bag, boxes, etc) to make a good quality saleable finished product.
  • Ensure proper materials are used for item that is being run.  
  • Ensures that all product produced meets quality specification.
  • Produces cases by safely operating various equipment as required to meet production schedule.
  • Ensures that all product produced meets quality specification by properly sanitizing all equipment.
  • Following instructions and calculating case volumes and material needed to produce.  
  • Maintains the entire work area where the machine is located is clean and in orderly condition.
  • Accurately records production information and material usage as the actual production takes place.  
  • Maintains production logs as necessary.
  • Ensures all scales are calibrated and are signed off on daily.
  • Conducts in-process quality checks and provides samples for the quality lab.
  • Monitors equipment performance and performs routine maintenance as required. 
  • Works in partnership with maintenance technician to resolve equipment problems. 
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to train and mentor associates to perform the Utility task.  
  • Ability to cross train in other areas of the plant.
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • High school diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to wear all PPE assigned for the task
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly
  • Ability to work outside in both cold and heat
  • Ability to work scheduled overtime and periodic overtime as needed
