IN-HOUSE COUNSEL / REAL ESTATE ATTORNEY

An ADP client is currently recruiting for an experienced individual to be our next In-House Counsel / Real Estate Attorney to join our team in our West Hills, California and Westlake Village, California locations. 

Who We Are:

J&L Real Properties is a commercial real estate investment entity founded by two partners in 2011.  Their success in commercial real estate transactions has led to current portfolio holding of 17 properties in multiple states across the country with over 1.2MM square foot combined rentable space.  

As a result of progressive growth and expansion over the past decade, we are seeking to bring legal counsel in-house.  We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful in-house attorney to support our commercial real estate and private equity fund operations.  This role will report directly and collaboratively with owners from our offices in West Hills, California and Westlake Village, California.

What you’ll do:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. 

Handling all aspects of general real estate matters including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, partnership formations, and private equity fund development

Draft, examine, edit, negotiate, and review a wide array of legal documents relevant to real estate transactions including buy/sell agreements, easement, lease and corporate matters

Advise third-party property management staff on tenant operational/lease issues, landlord/tenant matters, collection activities, and other operational matters

Serve as liaison to lenders and assist in negotiating, reviewing and transacting financing arrangements

Skillfully represent the company in all legislative and insurance matters and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and other applicable parties

Draft Operating Agreements, Bylaws and other corporate formation and governance documents

Handle legal and regulatory statutory filings at agency, county, state and Federal levels

Preserve all corporate and transactional records as well as essential correspondences

Other duties may be assigned by management

Our Perfect Candidate

Education and Experience:

Active CA bar license required

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in commercial real estate and corporate law

Extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial real estate generally and commercial real estate finance and the related regulatory environment

Experience with contract analysis, drafting and negotiating for a wide range of real estate, commercial, and/or corporate contracts

Sound knowledge/experience with representing buyers and sellers in commercial real estate financing transactions

Organized and detail-oriented with willingness to work under time-sensitive deadlines and be productive in fast-paced environments with multiple competing priorities

High degree of professionalism and integrity

Tact, diplomacy and strategic problem solver

Entrepreneurial with strong communication skills

Experience in handling disputes or litigation is a plus
